Today I was playing with vistas search feature. I found that the index of users which is the default includes the application data folder which is kind of silly. I was getting all sorts of double file results because many of the files and my user folder also appear to be in the temp folder under application data. It also kind of odd to come up with search results from a folder that is hidden from users. So I went into control panel and indexing options and went to go and disable the folder. It would not let me, though it did not come come up with any dialogue saying there was a permissions problem or something, clicking, pressing space bar, pressing enter, nothing changed. Then I saw a button labeled run as administrator. This reminded me of kubuntu. I was even more reminded, when I clicked on it and windows asked me whether I would like to run "run app as dll" as administrator, I pressed to continue, and nothing happened. After restarting the control panel I was able to enter the administrator mode. It still would not let me disabled indexing on the application data folder.
